On Wednesday, December 7, Glenbrook North Spartans will face off against the Glenbrook South Titans in a game of… comedic wits.
Theatre students from each school will face off in a Comedy Sportz improvisational fundraiser that will incorporate audience suggestions to determine the direction the games and acts go.
But, win or lose, everyone wins, GBN theater director Julie Ann Robinson said, because the event is held in the name of a good cause. All proceeds will benefit Special Gifts Theatre.
“In 2010, the event raised nearly $2,000 for cancer research and in 2013, all proceeds went to tornado relief in Washington, IL,” Robinson said. “We hope to expand upon a great tradition.”
Students will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in the GBN Sheely Center for Performing Arts. The show format and content is family friendly and tickets for the show are $10.
Locals looking for an encore are invited to attend “GBN Comedy Sportz” winter production as the improv continues Thursday, December 8, through Saturday, December 10. No two shows will be the same. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the CPA and tickets are $8.
