The GBN physical education department hosted its first Mark Rebora Spartan Challenge on Jan. 9 and 10.
All PE students went through the cross-training fitness challenge which involved nine different exercises that needed to be completed in 25 minutes.
Rebora, a beloved teacher and coach, started the challenge about six years ago. He passed away in March 2018.
"It evolved into something we wanted to keep going," GBN teacher and coach Justin Weiner said. "We wanted to honor him directly."
Several staff members also participated in the challenge this year.
Instructional supervisor Bob Pieper said the challenge is a good way to talk to students about the importance of fitness and Rebora's impact on the school.
"We get to explain who he was and all the lives he touched," Pieper said.
