In late March, the GBN Math Team competed in the virtual Regional and State Math Contest finishing second overall in State.
GBN had one individual state champion and one class event state championship. Senior Brendan Biernacki led the way, winning his fourth individual state championship. He and the rest of the senior precalculus team (Angela Zhao (seventh individually), Songyu Ye, Hyun Min (Eddie) Kim, Natalie Sun, and Henry Ding) took home a state championship in that group event as well.
While, Junior Howard Dai was first in our region and sixth in the state individually among juniors. Sophomores Ben Walsh (fifth) and Benjamin Witzel (seventh) also took home individual top 10 state honors.
In addition, eight GBN Math Team students spent part of their spring break competing in the prestigious Princeton University Mathematics Competition. Top students and teams from around the world competed, and our GBN team took second place overall, just behind a team from China. Seniors Brendan Biernacki, Songyu Ye, Angela Shao, junior Howard Dai, sophomores Ari Ayzenberg, Jade Huang, and Benjamin Witzel, and freshman Olivia Zhao competed and took first place in the Power Event.
