Reminders Following Spring Break

Students Returning from Travel Over Spring Break
The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) has aligned its travel guidance with the City of Chicago’s Travel Order.  As the guidance is continually changing, we recommend you click on this webpage for updated information.  CCDPH guidance is a recommendation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  The guidelines apply to anyone traveling to suburban Cook County from designated U.S. states with a significant degree of community-wide spread of COVID-19.

Should your student travel to a state on the Orange list (indicated on the webpage linked above and updated every other Tuesday), please make sure to follow the travel guidelines posted by CCDPH and the City of Chicago.  We will not be collecting negative test results; however, we ask that you keep those available should they be requested.  Please continue to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 following all travel. Should your student display these symptoms, we ask that you contact the school nurse, Ms. Amy Domke at and that your student remains home until a diagnosis has been determined. 

Students Returning to In-Person Learning
We are excited to announce that all students who requested to return to in-person learning on Monday, March 29, will be able to do so. In addition, all students who are currently attending in-person will be allowed to continue doing so.  All students who attend in-person are able to stay at school for the full day of classes.  We look forward to welcoming more students back to the building as pandemic conditions improve.  

If your student did not elect to return to in-person learning but is now interested in doing so, please send an email to Ms. Sue Donaubauer, Executive Assistant, at  We will notify you when your student can begin attending in-person classes.

Required COVID Testing
There will be no student testing during spring break; students do not need to drop off a saliva sample.  If your student is participating in athletic team practices over break, they do not need to submit a saliva sample.  Drop off days will resume on Tuesday, March 30, and Wednesday, March 31, at Doors E and O.

Parents of students returning to in-person learning for the first time: Please complete a waiver through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.  The waiver must be signed before a testing kit can be provided to a student.  Parents or students can pick up a saliva test kit at the following dates, times, and locations.

Social Distancing and Contact Tracing
Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) recently released updated guidance for schools.  One important change is the amount of social distancing required in classrooms and other spaces throughout the building. The guidelines now allow for between 3 and 6 feet of social distance.  We will continue to maintain six feet of distance when possible.  However, in order to accommodate every student who wants to return to in-person learning, the distance between student desks in classrooms may be reduced to between 3 and 6 feet. We will continue to work with the Cook County Department of Public Health during our contact tracing efforts, so the reduced distance may lead to additional quarantines when we learn of a probable or positive student or staff member case. If you are no longer comfortable sending your student to school because of the possible reduced distance in classrooms, please contact Ms. Donaubauer at  All students may continue remote learning through the end of the school year.

Other Covid Mitigation Strategies
We will continue to require the use of face masks, daily self-certification/health screening, and thorough cleaning.  These mitigation strategies are essential to keeping our school community safe.  We ask that parents inform the school when their child is not feeling well or has tested positive for Covid.  This information allows us to contact trace, quarantine if necessary, and contain the spread of Covid.  The health screening can be downloaded to a student’s phone by using  Please encourage your student to complete the health screening before they arrive on campus; this makes the student entry process far more efficient. 

NEW!  A new Digital ID mobile app is now available for students to add to their smartphone.  Simply navigate to, and save the web page to your device’s home screen.  The Digital ID app enables students to quickly access their student ID for use throughout the school building and for boarding a school bus.

IDPH and ISBE continue to require 6 feet of social distancing between students while they are unmasked and eating lunch. Quest will continue to offer free grab-and-go lunches to all in-person learners to be consumed on or off-campus. Free meals also are available to all students who are learning remotely. All students have the option to leave campus during lunch.  If they stay for lunch, they should eat in the assigned locations for freshmen (Cafeteria and south shelf), sophomores, juniors, and seniors (Library, A114/116, or Little Theatre). We record which student sits in which seat during lunch each day so that we can contact trace if necessary.

Bus Transportation
Students who have purchased a bus pass are eligible to ride the bus. All school buses will operate morning, mid-day, and afternoon routes.  Bus route and schedule information are available online (note: there are multiple tabs on the route document).

Students will be required to scan their student ID prior to boarding the school bus.  

Many of our families have already purchased a bus pass for the full school year.  If you have not purchased a bus pass, you may still do so.  Bus passes cost $225 for the fourth quarter.  Refunds will only be issued if the school district transitions to an adaptive pause.

Student Parking
All students are required to purchase a parking permit if they plan to park on campus during the school day.  Permits for the fourth quarter can be purchased for $75 and can be purchased by sophomores, juniors, and seniors.  Refunds will only be issued if the school district transitions to an adaptive pause.  

Beginning Wednesday, March 17, parking permits can be requested through PowerSchool.  To request a parking permit, navigate to the PowerSchool Parent Portal, select Forms, followed by Fourth Quarter Parking Permit Application.  Once your application is approved, you will receive an email with instructions on how to pay the fee online.

Drop Off/Pick Up
If you are driving your student to school, please drop them off and pick them up at the front of the school (Door E).
