He traveled to Washington, D.C. this past spring break to ask Congress for increased funding in diabetes management and prevention. He also requested that Congress hold hearings on the increased cost of insulin.

Galante recently participated in a SaLT (Service and Learning Travel) Spring Break trip to New Orleans where she and about 20 other local students worked to restore housing damaged from Hurricane Katrina (2005) and a tornado that occurred only a few months ago.

Student pushes for Down syndrome awareness
Glenbrook North junior Erin Mallicoat has dedicated her life to advocating for her peers with special needs. Most recently, Erin traveled to Springfield to help the Illinois Senate declare March 15, 2017 as Adult Down Syndrome Awareness Day.
 
Spartans Connect bridges GBN community
More than 220 presenters participated in nearly 160 Spartans Connect sessions this year. The biannual, all-school workshop allows students, faculty and community members to connect with each other in a unique way.

Students blitz to raise more than $2K for mental health support
Thirty Glenbrook North students were off to the races Thursday morning, March 2, as they rushed through the entire high school. In just two minutes, the students collected more than $2,000 to benefit Youth Services of Glenview/Northbook.

In October, Glenbrook North sophomore Daniel Brodson spoke at the annual Friends of the Chicago River meeting - the first student in the organization’s history to present at the conference.

GBN soccer coach named Coach of the Year

The 2016 Coach of the Year, Paul Vignocchi, has a storied history with soccer, starting his career with the sport at 8 years old. Vignocchi played for four years as a student with the Glenbrook North Spartans and then continued to play four years collegiately at Northern Illinois University.

We know the meaning of school spirit

Each year on Loyalty Day, Glenbrook North High School Spartans layer on their green and gold garments and pile into the gym for an assembly celebrating a spectrum of achievements from clubs, athletics and individual pursuits. Their emcees, the five-member Student Activities Board, introduce honors wearing the same striped long-sleeve polos that have been donned for decades. At the end of the assembly, the Down by the River Boys lead a chant that literally has the crowd jumping up and down and “going bananas.”

Glenbrook staff and students host 2017 All-State Musical
In January 2017, the Illinois High School Theatre Festival will produce Sweeney Todd as the All-State Musical production at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.
