Final Exams
Glenbrook North High School's final exams occur over four days at the end of each semester.
Each day includes two 90-minute exam blocks with a 15-minute break.
Students must be present for classes where exams are required. For blocks, when students do not have an exam, they can leave campus or remain in one of the designated quiet study areas.
Bus routes will run on their regular pick-up schedule these days, and a modified drop-off schedule will depart from GBN at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Dates of Final Exams
Additional Information
Each student must complete semester evaluations according to administrative guidelines. Permitting deviations from established evaluation dates and time is not within a teacher's prerogative.
Student Expectations
- 90 minutes have been scheduled for each evaluation. Students are encouraged to bring study materials to use in the instance that evaluations are completed before the end of the scheduled periods. Students must stay in the testing room for the entire ninety minutes.
- Students do not need to report to school during periods when no final exam is given, such as an SRT.

If a senior student has three or four finals on one day, the student may request a change in the last final of the day by contacting the Associate Principal of Teaching and Learning. Upon the approval of the request, the student must contact the teacher and coordinate a new time for the make-up exam.
Final Exam Policy
A senior student with an 80% semester average in a given course may have the option of waiving the final. The only attendance requirement is no unexcused absences including out-of-school suspensions.
By the nature of the course, if a final exam is deemed critical to a fair assessment of the student’s work, the student must take the final exam whether or not the condition above has been met. The instructor(s) of the course, instructional supervisor, and principal (or designee) make this decision.
Students in classes in which a final may be waived will be notified one week prior to senior finals if their performance meets the criteria stated above. In order to maintain their exempt status, students must continue to meet the criteria through the last day of senior attendance.
Returning Loaned Materials
The bookstore will be open from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, May 31, 2024, for students to return loaned items. All items with a gold barcode be returned to to the Bookstore and cannot be left with the courses teacher or left in the classroom.

- Weekly invoices will be emailed to families in May, notifying them of outstanding school fees, obligations, and loaned outstanding textbooks.
- Please do not return loaned textbooks to a staff member or leave the book in a classroom.
- Return all textbooks to the GBN Bookstore.
- Paper checks are not accepted for senior obligations after 5/17/24 (this does not affect any other grade level).
- The GBN Bookstore will continue to accept cash and credit card payments for graduating students.
