The Philanthropic/Service clubs at Glenbrook North give students opportunities to participate actively in and contribute to their community.
Students engage in meaningful volunteer work that encourages them to become active, responsible citizens who are committed to making a difference in the world around them. Through these clubs, students gain a deeper understanding of the social issues prevalent in their community and develop a strong sense of empathy and compassion, nurturing their passion for service and inspiring them to become lifelong advocates for positive change.
The After School All-Stars is a club that allows GBN students to tutor, mentor and participate in activities with elementary school students. The GBN students will plan tutoring and activity sessions based on the elementary students' needs. The club meets on a weekly basis & tries to tutor at least twice a month.
The club is designed to give students an opportunity to work together to make a difference with regard to environmental issues. Students attain knowledge of pertinent problems in the local and global world and use that knowledge to seek solutions.
The purpose of Girl Up is to bring girls in under privelaged communities more opportunities through human connection and volunteer work.
Kids 4 the Cure is a club that raises awareness about cancer. Our goal is to engage students in volunteer opportunities in the GBN and the surrounding community in order to show our support of anyone impacted by cancer. Our club has made ribbons, attended charity walks, and passed out sunscreen to promote our cause. We have a partnership with the Special Spaces organization which gives us the opportunity to create a dream bedroom for a teen in the local community who has cancer. Students who want to make a difference in the lives of others are welcome to join.
P.A.W.S. is committed to fundraising for and learning about humane treatment of animals. Membership is open to all students passionate about animal welfare. We focus on raising school and community awareness about animal cruelty, helping homeless pets, and supporting wildlife conservation.
Relay for Life occurs once a year in the late spring/early summer and is a fundraising event benefiting the American Cancer Society.
