Dr. Michael Tarjan
Dr. Michael Tarjan has served Glenbrook North as the Assistant Principal for Student Activities since the Fall of 2005. Under his leadership, several programs have gained local, state and national recognition. Including, but not limited to: Math Team, Speech and Debate Programs, Chess Team, DECA, and Theatre.
Prior to his appointment at Glenbrook North, Dr. Tarjan held several different roles in education along his journey to becoming a Spartan. He began his career in the classroom as a Physical Education Instructor at Queen of All Saints School and at Streamwood High School in Chicago and Streamwood Illinois, respectively. During those years, he also dedicated time to Athletics in the coaching capacity, as a Varsity Head Lacrosse Coach, Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach, and Varsity Assistant Volleyball Coach.
Dr. Tarjan transitioned into Administration as the first Activity Director at Niles North High School and then moved to Niles West High School and served as Dean of Students. During his time in the Niles School District, he also served as the Principal of the Summer School Program.
Dr. Tarjan currently serves on the Illinois Directors of Student Activities Executive Board. He enjoys advocating for student involvement and building a spirited and inclusive community that nurtures leadership and growth for students at Glenbrook North.
